Dragoncon 2008 – sunday!

Sunday we slept in, then I put on Poison Ivy (I wanted to rewear Zatanna, but my feet said “NO!”) and Chase and I went and had a little lunch. Then Chase remembered he was supposed to go to the clonetroopers.net lunch LOL. So he went to that, and I met up with Ash and we went shopping for a while. Didn’t take any pics that morning (lazy!).

Then we met Chase back in the room and I started putting on “beastly” Belle. I’ve NEVER put on any kind of facial piece like this and didn’t have time to practice before the con, so it was very trial and error.
I ended up ditching the lovely ears I’d gotten with the hair I’d attached to them – I just couldn’t get them to stay on with the wig. I did attach some loose hair along my jaw, and had my big fake eyebrows I put on, in addition to the snout/chin piece.
In other words, I got the bathroom VERY messy.

We headed up to the 10th floor for the Disney shoot, then.

I wore it around downstairs for just a few minutes, but was getting really uncomfortable with all that stuff on my face, so I went and got out of it. Then I took a nap, and then Chase wanted to get into his other clone. I actually went downstairs in REGULAR clothes! OMG! LOL.

And then we all headed over to Ash and Cath’s hotel room in the Hyatt to watch the masquerade! We ordered pizza and just hung out and had fun.

Before they announced the winners Chase and I got on out and headed back to our room to avoid the crowd to get back into costume. I put on Wonder Woman and he put on Green Arrow, and like I said in the friday entry, we left the green tunic off and it looked so much better.
I got the WW wig on MUCH better sunday night – it was still heavy but didn’t hurt this time around. I opted to use my toupee tape on the upper section of the crown to attach it to my head instead of attaching it under the ribbon. I paid the price for that later! LOL.

Attacking cath… it’s a dragoncon tradition…

And then suddenly, Edward James Olmos!

And then my feet couldn’t take the shoes anymore, so I went and put Black Canary on!

But, when I went to take my WW tiara off… turns out that toupee tape Chase picked up for me was not my usual toupee tape. I knew it looked different but just thought it was because it had been several years since I’d had to buy any. Well this stuff he got, it was like 10x stronger than anything I’d ever used. And when I asked him to put some tape on my tiara and put it on me, he like slathered the whole front inside with tape, which I didn’t realise.

So, then — it didn’t want to come off!! Ash said when he tried to do the “1-2-3” yank!, all it did was stretch the skin on my forehead LOL. So he just had to pull it and boy did it hurt. Everywhere the tape was, it was bruised. It looked the worst on Monday, it was dark purple and hurt to the touch… I was able to put makeup on it to dull it down to a dark pink, at least. It’s pretty much gone by now, thank goodness – I have to wear Leia next weekend and there’s no way to have my hair hide it in THAT!

Monday I put on Glinda for all of 10 minutes. Seriously. I’ll go into the difficulties with it and the pics of it in my upcoming post… then I went and put on regular clothes and shopped again! LOL.

I got the Gentle Giant Leia bust I’ve been meaning to get for ages, a bunch of graphic novels (mostly catching up on X-Men), the 90s X-Men cartoon on dvd, and Chase got a clonetrooper bust, and a big Narnia statue of Peter on a unicorn. (“the peter.”)

We went up to the room and napped, I downloaded pics, and when Cath got done volunteering we all went to eat at Benihana and it was mmmmmm good! We came back and wandered around a little… everything looks so different without thousands of people milling around. We chilled some more and packed… then we got to get up at 7 the next morning and head home. We stopped at Performance costumes in Nashville so Chase could pick up a new pair of boots for Vader, and I took this pic there:

We got back home around 2. Not bad!

Like I said, I woke up Tuesday morning knowing I was getting sick – by Tuesday night I had a pretty bad head cold. On top of that I had blisters on both little toes, bruised feet, a sprained ankle – and the giant bruise on my forehead LOL
It’s not Dragoncon if your feet don’t hurt, though!!

Seriously, it was a fantastic con. I met so many people in person who I’d wanted to meet… I can’t wait til next year!

Speaking of which, outside of Dcon, I have NO idea what cons we’re going to next year. I’d love to go to Megacon, but I don’t know if that’s in our budget. I’ve got to think about it.

Ha! Sorry to hear about all the damage – you can sort of tell how good a DragonCon you’ve had by how many injuries you end up with! Your WW looks great – I’m glad to see it all together.

I can’t get toupee tape! I think there’s some at Sally Beauty Supply so I’ll have to trek out to one. I tried using eyelash glue on a wig this past weekend and all it did was get my hair gluey because it didn’t set on the skin/edge of my forehead.

I react to band-aid glue so your skin sensitivity might have been to the glue not the latex. You never know.
